Synopsis
Four one-minute spots depict the professional development of four migrants in Germany. With its campaign, the network MigraNet wants to draw attention to the squandering of human resources through the 'non-acknowledgement' of the professional and academic qualifications of immigrants to Germany and Europe. Lamia Al Balwa is a teacher from Iraq, but instead of teaching Arabic she works as a chambermaid or cleaner. Bacher Al-Regeb from Iraq is a professor of Arab music but works in a food stall. His dream is to set up an institute for oriental music. Joe Idris Agyemang from Accra studied engineering in Ghana and was an independent building contractor. He has been living in Germany since 2002 and works in a mail room. The psychologist Armando Masson Valdez fled to Germany from Cuba. Although there is a great demand for mother-tongue psychologists in the field of migration, his qualifications have slim chances of being recognised in Germany.
